Feeling Distracted & Low on Energy? How much of the B vitamins should one take?

FROM DOCTOR TOM - I'm often asked how much of the B vitamins should one take. I suggest a daily dose of 6 mg of vitamin B6, 700 mcg of vitamin B9 (Folic Acid), and 25 mcg of vitamin B12 if you are under 50 years old. Since your body's production of the digestive enzymes necessary to absorb B12 declines with age, increase your B12 intake to between 400-800 mcg on a daily basis based on your years above 50. Of course, the best way to get any vitamin is in your food, if possible. You can get your B6 from tuna, potatoes, chicken, and bananas, while Folic Acid and B12 are found in whole grains, fruit juices, and cereals.
