THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING COFFEE OR TEA
THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING COFFEE OR TEA - I'm often asked about the benefits of drinking caffeinated coffee or tea. The best coffee is prepared with a paper filter and drunk black, i.e. no cream, milk, sugar, etc. Drinking about 3 cups of such coffee per day reduces your risk of basal cell carcinoma, which is the most common form of skin cancer, by about 40 percent. Wow! Caffeine also protects against other cancers, including breast, prostate, and liver. Remember that this does NOT mean that if you drink coffee you won't get these cancers.
Up to Four cups of coffee per day reduces your risk of Type 2 diabetes and also protects from developing Alzheimer's disease. However, once someone has Type 2 diabetes, coffee makes it harder to control their glucose levels. Again, just drinking coffee will not prevent these diseases.
For those of you who workout, it's well known that caffeine boosts muscle power and endurance. One of my favorite pre-workout protocols is one cup of coffee, half an aspirin tablet, and one capsule of cayenne pepper. This simple trifecta actually replaces most pre-workout drinks.
